Behind the Scenes: Meet the Sanctuary Oysters / Sol Azul Admin Team

Meet the Sanctuary Oysters / Sol Azul Admin team! This team works behind the scenes to ensure the smooth operation of the company. We asked each team member a few questions to learn more about their roles and their experiences working at Sanctuary Oysters.

Finance Manager, Ana Luisa Espinoza
One of the most critical roles in any organization is that of the finance manager. Ana Luisa joined the team through a recommendation from a friend. Her daily work involves checking and responding to emails, processing payments and reports, and working with her team on HR and banking issues. One of the things she enjoys most about working at Sanctuary Oysters is the team-based environment, where everyone works together. She believes that the company's success is due to the quality of its products, and her favorite memory at Sanctuary Oysters is attending a leadership forum in Los Angeles, which was an educational experience for both her personal and professional life.

Gabriela Bermudez, Human Resource Manager
Human resources are another critical department that ensures a company's success. Gabriela explains that her typical day starts with a cup of coffee then jumping into completing daily tasks. Her favorite thing about working at Sanctuary Oysters is the respect and healthy work environment the company provides. She believes the company is special because of its sustainable and quality products, which support local employment. Her favorite memory of working at Sanctuary Oysters is visiting the farm and trying the oysters for the first time. While she loves the raw oysters her favorite way to prepare oysters is the classic Rockefeller style.

Erick Camacho, Accountant
Another essential role within the administration team is accounting. Erick was recruited by a friend and has been part of the administration team since 2017. Erick's favorite thing about working at Sanctuary Oysters is the people. He finds that his work team is proactive and always willing to teach him something new. For him, learning new things is his favorite part of working at Sanctuary Oysters, and he prefers to eat oysters in their raw form served simply with a bit of lemon and salt.

Lourdes Sepulveda, Accountant
Lourdes has been working for Sanctuary Oysters for eight years. Lourdes enjoys the work environment and thinks that the solidarity between all departments and job positions makes the company special. Her favorite memory of working at Sanctuary Oysters was in 2016 when all departments of the company celebrated the 20th anniversary of the first Sol Azul harvest and spent time together at the San Ignacio farm. Lourdes's favorite way to prepare oysters is Rockefeller style.

René Velázquez, Administrative Assistant

René joined the team earlier this year, in January 2023. As an administrative assistant, René's daily tasks include taking care of pending tasks and occasionally going out of the city to take oyster seed or pick up a special request. He enjoys working with his proactive team, who are always willing to teach him something new. One of René's favorite things about working at Sanctuary Oysters is being able to divide his personal life and work life. When it comes to preparing oysters like many others on the team, he prefers them raw with a touch of lemon and salt.
