This Earth Month, we at Sanctuary Oysters are celebrating our unwavering dedication to the planet's well-being. We employ "off-bottom" farming, a method where oysters are cultivated in suspended bags, ensuring the natural seabed remains undisturbed. This practice not only minimizes our impact on the marine ecosystem but also improves water quality, which is crucial for producing healthy, robust oysters.

 

Our dedication to sustainability extends to our energy usage. We are proud to share that 80% of our operations are powered by renewable energy sources, predominantly solar power. This commitment is complemented by our own solar-powered desalination plant, fulfilling our freshwater needs without tapping into limited local resources.

 

We also strive to minimize our carbon footprint through thoughtful supply chain management. We prioritize local sourcing and choose eco-friendly packaging options, aligning our business practices with our ecological values.

 

Our home within the El Vizcaino Biosphere Reserve, a sanctuary of marine diversity and the largest wildlife refuge in Latin America, inspires our conservation efforts. Here, we are more than oyster farmers; we are environmental stewards, actively involved in preserving the natural splendor and biodiversity of the reserve.
